The Los Banos Unified School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Bree Valla as its new Superintendent of Schools. The Board is expected to formally ratify Dr. Valla’s appointment at its regular meeting on April 9, 2026. Dr. Valla currently serves as Superintendent of the Vista del Mar Union School District in Gaviota, California.
The Board of Trustees made its decision with input gathered from all key stakeholder groups in the District regarding the desired qualities of the next Superintendent. Based on the feedback received from parents, staff, and community members, the Board was looking for someone who is a collaborative leader with success as an educational leader and who will be committed to the Districts’ mission, vision, core values, and community.
Dr. Valla is a seasoned educator with over 25 years of experience. Dr. Valla brings a comprehensive background including classroom instruction, site leadership, and executive district administration. Most recently serving as a Superintendent, she has been recognized for her ability to transform districts through close collaboration with staff, boards, and the community. Dr. Valla’s deep roots in agricultural communities and her diverse professional journey—from FFA Advisor to Superintendent—position her as a uniquely qualified leader to drive the future of LBUSD.
Dr. Valla’s professional trajectory offers a "full-circle" perspective on the K-12 experience. She began her career in the trenches of career technical education as an FFA Advisor and Teacher, later transitioning into the classroom as a middle school math and science teacher. Her leadership capabilities quickly saw her rise through the ranks, serving as an instructional coach, school site principal, and eventually moving into district-level roles including Director of Human Resources, Assistant Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent.
In her most recent role as Superintendent, Dr. Valla was able to work closely with the community to re-invigorate and modernize the educational landscape. Her tenure was marked by a commitment to transparency and a hands-on approach to district-wide improvement.

This background informs her vision for vocational programs and the essential role schools play in supporting the local economy.
